UFC on FOX 21: Maia vs. Condit (Plus a little Bellator 160)

I don't know about you all, but I am still buzzing from last week's fights.  But time waits for no man.  UFC goes back to the great north, making some fight plans in Vancouver.  The top three fights are very intriguing.  The main event has potential #1 contender implications, the co-main event has the feather-weight debut of a former champion, and the third fight has the return of a mega-star fresh of her dazzling performance on "Dancing with the Stars".  Still bull@#$% she got robbed out of the crystal ball trophy.  Also, we preview the Bellator main event.

UFC 198: Werdum v. Miocic Picks and Predictions

UFC 198, or "Brazil's UFC 200" goes down this Saturday in Curitiba Brazil.  It's a veritable who's-who of Brazilian stars in MMA which is headlined UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum putting his belt on the line against Stipe Miocic.  The Brazilian star-studded event took a huge hit when it lost Anderson Silva to injury earlier in the week but card is still packed and will make for good eyeball watching this weekend.

UFC 194: Aldo vs. McGregor Picks and Predictions

Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, people of all ages... we are finally here! Well... almost. It wasn't all long that ago that we said the featherweight division was devoid of stars and now it houses quite possibly the biggest fight the UFC can make on quite possibly the best card the UFC has ever put together. Anticipation for Aldo and McGregor is palpable after an initial postponement at what was supposed to be an It's MMAzing event out in Vegas. Mendes stepped in to fight McGregor as we all know and the legend continues. Somehow lost in all of this hullabaloo is a spectacular middleweight title fight between Chris Weidman and Luke Rockhold. Rockhold has been on one of the most impressive tears in recent memory while Weidman is the Anointed One, Vanquisher of Spiders, and reigning greatest fighter on the planet. Saturday night is bringing a stacked card with great fighters, but let's be real here... there is only ONE Conor McGregor.

UFC Featherweight Championship
Jose Aldo (c) vs. Conor McGregor (ic)
@thenotoriousmma you look great

No... Notorious! It's a real credit to the man Conor that he managed to steal center stage from a monster of a man who has been without peer for nearly his entire Zuffa run in Jose Aldo. Aldo has been a human highlight reel of violence in his reign, yet in struts this brash Irishman who has stolen the hearts (and betting lines) of the masses. Aldo is a killer in the cage, yet something about McGregor seems so effortless and masterful. Listen to Conor long enough and you will surely hear about the art of movement and that is precisely what Conor is in the cage: an artist. Could the hype train come crashing down? Absolutely. Could we see the coronation of the one true king? I'm expecting it. It's not that long ago we saw what movement and fluidity could do to stifle a heralded Brazilian killer in Renan Barao, Jose Aldo's teammate no less. McGregor by third round TKO. Bust out the red panties.

Aldo:
McGregor: U... Unanimous!

UFC Fight Night 62: Maia v. LaFlare Picks

This Saturday, March 21st, coming off of the momentum of the thrilling UFC 185 card that saw two titles change hands, the UFC returns to Brazil and puts on a card that is...well...not so great. This card lost Urijah Faber, Raphael Assuncao, Josh Thomson, Ben Saunders...let's be honest, they might want to rename this card: UFC Fight Night: Well, F*ck.

Don't worry folks. All is not lost. There is
a man that can and will save us from an evening of average-at-best MMA. Some (well, me) call him the Brazilian Superman. Others (also me) call him the Brazilian Octopus (this name will pick up steam soon, I swear). I'm talking about Demian Maia. One of the baddest men on Earth and worth your viewership alone just to see how effortlessly he chokes out professional fighters.
