UFC 202: Diaz v. McGregor II Predictions

UFC 202 may very well end up being the biggest pay per view the UFC has ever done. Going off the success of Diaz's/McGregor's first fight and the recent shit show that was their press event, it seems like the stars are starting to align themselves for a huge night of fights. The first time Diaz and McGregor threw down there was so many odd X factors going into that fight. Diaz was a super late replacement, had a very different fighting style from Conor's original opponent and they were fighting at 170 lbs. There was also a ton of trash talking before the fight which only increased interest which all lead to one hell of a fight. McGregor got bested in the end and has been obsessed with getting revenge ever since. This main event is really the driving force of this PPV, but there's still other notable fighters on the card like Anthony Johnson, Glover Teixeria, Donald Cerrone and Tim Means but really this is the Diaz McGregor show.

UFC on FOX: Johnson v, Bader Picks and Predictions

This Saturday the UFC comes to Fox for its 18th installment of combat sporting all the way from that place that is right next to New York since New York is never going host the sport of MMA... Newark, New Jersey! New title contenders will rise and a possible future title contender will have a chance to ASCEND to that next level. (Joke in there for the two of you DBZ fans out there that might also regard Sage Northcutt with this reference...) Rumble Johnson seeks to get another crack the championship belt, while Bader looks to get the marquee name that launches him into a title picture that he arguably should have already been in. Josh Barnett and Ben Rothwell go at it in a matchup of two big, mean, dudes. And Zack Morris stops time to tell you whats up, and show you some sweet, sweet, moves.

UFC 191: Johnson v. Dodson II Predictions

If someone asks you who is the best pound for pound fighter in the world, the answer is Jon Jones. If someone asks you which ACTIVE fighter is the best pound for pound fighter in the world, the answer is either Demetrious Johnson or Jose Aldo. The sad thing is that Johnson does not get nearly the attention he deserves. Possibly being the baddest man on the planet isn't enough to get people to tune in, but it's their loss. Mighty Mouse's fights are must watch for me and the possibility of him facing an actual threat (as he is facing in this fight) only adds to excitement. Johnson v. Dodson II is the fight we've been waiting for in this division, but will it live up?

UFC Flyweight Championship
Demetrious Johnson (c) v. John Dodson

Finally, a legitimate challenge for Mighty Mouse. I don't buy it. Those of us who watched the first contest between Johnson and Dodson saw a hell of a fight between two of the three best flyweights in the world (I got Benavidez at #2). What we also saw was Mighty Mouse Johnson absolutely figuring out John Dodson's game during the last 3 rounds of the fight. Dodson is a head hunter and is possibly the fastest guy in the UFC. Unfortunately for him, Mighty Mouse learned his timing. Additionally, Dodson tends to fade as the fight goes on and Johnson's cardio is on a different planet. This fight will not be as competitive as the first, but you still get to see arguably the best fighter in the world work. Johnson by 4th round submission.

Picking Mighty Mouse: All of us
Picking Dodson: "uneducated fools"

UFC 187: Johnson v. Cormier Predictions

What a strange trip it's been to get to UFC 187. By this point you guys know what happened. Jon Jones was going to defend his title against Rumble Johnson. Then some things (allegedly) happened and Mr. Jones was stripped of his light heavyweight championship. We now have Daniel Cormier stepping in to take Anthony Johnson for the Undisputed (as our own Lavender Gooms would say, "Come on son") UFC Light Heavyweight Championship. In the co-main event we have the long awaited matchup between Chris Weidman and "The Phenom" (or is it the "Old Lion"...or maybe the "Young Dinosaur") Vitor Belfort for the UFC Middleweight Championship. Check out our predictions below. I went 6 for 6 last week. I'm basically a very good looking version of Nostradamus.

UFC on FOX: Gustafsson v. Johnson Picks

The UFC returns to network television with a main card taking place in Stockholm in front of a giant venue full of sleep-deprived Swedes. If they're lucky, they'll see their countryman Alexander Gustafsson earn himself a rematch with Jon Jones. Anthony "Rumble" Johnson however, has designs on knocking The Mauler's block off and taking the title shot himself.

Alexander Gustafsson v. Anthony Johnson

Rumble looking fresh to death
Did you listen to this week's episode of It's MMAzing Radio? If you didn't, well, screw you. If you did, you're well aware of my internal struggle regarding this fight. This is a very close match-up and I want very badly to pick "Rumble," but I can't bring myself to do it. Gustafsson versus Jones just needs to happen. Don't get me wrong, so does Rumble versus Jones, but now is clearly the time for Gus/Jones II. Gus got so close to taking the title from Jones back and UFC 165 and it's time to see if Jones really too him as lightly as the rumors suggest. The need for that rematch aside, I think Gus is going to be able to stick and move well enough to win this fight. Gus has fantastic movement and pinpoint striking. Rumble hits hard and is terrifying in general, but I think Gus can avoid the big shots for the first few rounds. The pace he'll set will eventually slow Rumble down. Gus takes a hard fought decision here, but I really hope I'm wrong. Gustaffson by decision.

Swedish Chef Mauler: DJ Mark, Kid P, Doctor Law
Rumble Young Man. Rumble: Lavender Gooms
