UFC 207: Nunes vs. Rousey Fight Predictions

2016 has been a kick in the pills right?  We saw the Celebrity Apprentice elected to the most powerful position in the world and it seems we lost so many people this year that were icons (RIP Princess Leia).  News also just came across that UFC 207 will be Mike Goldberg's last show.  These are too many changes to the status quo.  At least this Friday we get the return of the former women's bantamweight champion.

UFC 199: Rockhold vs Bisping II Predictions

It is the cementing of legacies versus a moment of redemption. Will past losses be avenged? Or will the tides press on, confirming the past moments that resonate with us today. These are the story lines going into UFC 199: Rockhold vs Bisping II. Originally slated to defend in a rematch against the recently dethroned Chris Weidman, Rockhold now takes on Michael Bisping in his first, and almost entirely improbable title shot. For some reason the UFC brass has also deemed it necessary to give us the Cruz vs Faber rubber match that none of us really wanted. This card is deep on action fighters that should make for an action packed night. Max Holloway continues his ascent toward title contendership, while an ever aging Dan Henderson will continue to carry o see if he can land that mega-nuke right hand against the always dangerous (in the first round) Hector Lombard. But personally, I am most awaiting the return of the king, Bobby Green, who has a potential fight of the night bonus in waiting against the always exciting to watch, Dustin Poirier. Check out our picks for the fights.

UFC middleweight championship
Luke Rockhold (c) vs Michael Bisping
Luke feelin' himself

And then... a handsome man entered the room. As an FYI, that is how every story involving Luke Rockhold begins. I just thought you should know. At this point, there aren't too many superlatives I can give out that you wouldn't already know for the man who beat the man, who beat THE MAN. Rockhold is every bit a complete fighter with nasty power while striking, and may the Seven protect you if he gets control of you on the ground. Michael Bisping knows this first hand with the way he was so effortlessly rolled over into a nasty top-side guillotine in their first outing. This is a title fight so I feel like I should say more, but this title shot is more so just a resume padder. Rockhold by choke submission, round 2.
Rockhold: unanimous
Bisping: Bobby's heart

UFC Fight Night: Dillashaw v. Cruz Predictions

The former champ returns to take what he never lost. A wild battle of top 5 lightweights. The big boys throwing down at heavyweight. All of that and more taking place on this special Sunday UFC card. Check out our predictions below.

UFC Bantamweight Championship
TJ Dillashaw (c) v. Dominick Cruz

We are only a few days away and I'm still not convinced this fight is going to happen. You can't really blame me, Dominick Cruz has 4 leg injuries in the last 4 years and has only fought once in that time frame. Regardless, the man who never lost the bantamweight title in the cage returns to reclaim what was his against a surging TJ Dillashaw. In Cruz's absense, Dillashaw has managed to take the UFC bantamweight title off of a very tough champion in Renan Barao and do so with a style that appears to borrow heavily from Cruz's movement-heavy approach. This is a very tough fight to call, but I'm going with Dominick Cruz. He has managed to convince me that ring rust wont be an issue and I remember his fights from before the injury. In a nutshell: he hits you and you can't hit him back. Dillashaw has been great, but I think Dominick solves the puzzle. Cruz by decision.

BREAKING NEWS: Dominick Cruz tears ACL, fight with Urijah Faber off UFC 148 card.

image via ktvu.com

According to multiple reports, UFC Bantamweight Champion Dominick Cruz has a torn ACL and will no longer face Urijah Faber at UFC 148. MMAJunkie.com has confirmed the reports while the UFC is yet to comment on the situation.

Cruz and Faber were originally set to be the main event of the July card before scheduling issues forced the much anticipated Anderson Silva v. Chael Sonnen rematch to be booked as the main event for the card. UFC 148 was to be the site of the rubber match between the two bantamweights as Faber won the first at WEC 26 via submission and in Cruz avenged the defeat with a unanimous-decision victory at UFC 132.

It is not yet known what the UFC plans to do with Faber. The situation is further complicated by the fact that Cruz and Faber have at least 1 more month of filming of the Ultimate Fighter to complete. Given the UFC's usual MO, however, it is unlikely that Faber will be moved off the card. In what is either a happy accident or the sign of pure genius of Joe Silva's part, Renan Barao (#3 in the It's MMAzing rankings) is already booked to fight Ivan Menjivar at UFC 148. It makes sense for the UFC set up either a #1 contender's or interim title fight between Barao and Faber for that card. Either way, Cruz's injury has left the UFC in an unfortunate position as another division has been brought to a halt by a champion's injury.
